How we help with food

A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources helps with food in two ways, and the second one matters more over time:

  • Food now — through our pantry and partner network, including Curley House Food Pantry
  • Food every month — by helping you apply for SNAP food stamps as a registered MyACCESS Partner with the Florida Department of Children and Families

A pantry solves this week. SNAP application help solves the month after that, and the one after. Most families who come for food also qualify for SNAP and have never applied.

How to get food assistance

  1. Call before you travelPhone (786) 396-3144. Requirements and hours change, and we do not want you making a trip for nothing.
  2. Tell us your household sizeHow many adults and how many children, so what we prepare actually fits your family.
  3. Bring ID if you have itMost pantries ask for identification and proof of address. If you do not have them, still call — we will work out what is possible.
  4. Ask about SNAP at the same timeStaff can screen you and file a food stamp application at the same appointment. It costs nothing and takes one visit.

Frequently asked questions about food assistance

Do I need ID to get food from a pantry in Florida?

Requirements vary by pantry. Most ask for some form of identification and proof of where you live, though many will help a family in an emergency without it. Call A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources at (786) 396-3144 and ask before you travel, so you do not make a wasted trip.

Do I need a referral for a food pantry in Miami-Dade?

Some Miami-Dade pantries require a written referral from 211 Miami before they will provide food. Others do not. Call (786) 396-3144 to find out what applies, and staff will tell you exactly what to do first.

Where can I get free food in Miami-Dade today?

Call 211 for the current list of food distributions across Miami-Dade, updated daily. In Broward, call 211 Broward. Both are free and open 24 hours in English, Spanish, and Creole. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources also works with Curley House Food Pantry and other partners across both counties.

Can you help me apply for food stamps as well?

Yes. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources is a registered MyACCESS Partner with the Florida Department of Children and Families, which means staff can complete and submit your SNAP food stamp application with you at the same appointment. A pantry helps this week. SNAP helps every month.

Is the food pantry free?

Yes. There is no charge for food assistance from A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources, and no charge for any other service.

If you need food today

We are appointment-only, so if you need groceries before we can see you, call one of these. You do not need us to refer you.
