For schools, clinics, agencies & congregations

Community Partnerships in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties

We work both counties. Miami-Dade and Broward. Every county and city agency you refer to can only serve residents of its own jurisdiction, so families near the line get sent back and forth. We do not do that.

A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources works with schools, clinics, behavioral health providers, food programs, and agencies across both counties. Send us a family and we will take the referral, work the case, and tell you what happened.

Why schools and agencies work with us

Pastor Lawrence Hall, who founded A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources, taught for 20 years in Miami-Dade County Public Schools alternative education programs. He is not an outside vendor approaching the district. He is a retired district teacher who started this organization because he watched students go without help that already existed for them.

That is the difference this organization is built around.

VERIFY-ALT: describe what this image shows
  • We work both counties. County and city agencies can only serve residents of their own jurisdiction. Families near the county line get sent back and forth. We do not do that.
  • We screen the whole household. A referral for food usually turns up a family that also qualifies for health coverage and has never applied.
  • We complete the applications. As a registered MyACCESS Partner with the Florida Department of Children and Families, staff file benefit applications with the family rather than handing over a website address.
  • We close the loop. You find out what happened to the family you sent us.
  • It costs nothing — not the family, not the referring organization.

How a referral works

  1. You send itUse the school resource referral form, or call (786) 396-3144. Send what you have; we will chase the rest.
  2. We contact the familyStaff reach out directly and set up an appointment at our office.
  3. We screen the whole householdNot just the presenting need. Most families qualify for more than they realize.
  4. We do the workApplications completed and submitted, referrals made to the right partner for anything outside our scope.
  5. We confirm back to youYou are told the family was served, so a referral is not something you send into a void.

Working with the school districts

Both districts run formal partner programs, and both have their own requirements.

Frequently asked questions

How do I refer a family to A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources?

Use the school resource referral form on this website, or call (786) 396-3144. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources accepts referrals from schools, caseworkers, clinics, churches, and community organizations across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and confirms back to the referring party once the family has been served.

What are school community partnerships?

School community partnerships are formal relationships between a school district and outside organizations that bring services, resources, and volunteers to students and families. Miami-Dade County Public Schools runs its program as Dade Partners. Broward County Public Schools runs Partners in Education through its Family and Community Engagement office. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources works with schools in both counties.

Do partners need a background check?

Yes. Broward County Public Schools requires all outside partners working directly with students to clear a background check through the district volunteer application process. Miami-Dade has equivalent requirements. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources complies with district screening in both counties.

What does A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources do with a referral?

Staff contact the family, screen the whole household rather than the single presenting problem, complete any benefit applications the family qualifies for, connect them to the right partner organization for anything outside our scope, and confirm back to whoever made the referral. There is no cost to the family or to the referring organization.

Can our organization become a partner?

Yes. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources partners with clinics, schools, behavioral health providers, food programs, employment agencies, and churches across Miami-Dade and Broward. Call (786) 396-3144 to talk about what a partnership would look like.
