Free SNAP and Food Stamp Application Help in Miami-Dade and Broward

A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources helps families in Miami-Dade County and Broward County apply for SNAP food assistance at no cost. As a registered MyACCESS Partner with the Florida Department of Children and Families, staff complete and submit the application with you instead of sending you to a website.

What SNAP application help covers

SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Most people still call it food stamps. Benefits arrive on an EBT card that works like a debit card at grocery stores.

A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources helps with the whole process:

  • Free eligibility screening before you apply, so you do not waste weeks finding out you do not qualify
  • Completing and submitting the application through MyACCESS, with you, at your appointment
  • Gathering documents and working out how to replace anything you are missing
  • Understanding letters from DCF that are hard to read
  • Recertification when your six-month period ends, so your benefits do not stop
  • Fixing problems with an application that was denied or a case that closed

Waiting on your application? Approval can take up to 30 days. You do not have to go without food in the meantime. See our food pantry in Miami Gardens, or call 211 for a distribution near you.

Who qualifies for SNAP in Florida

Florida screens gross income at 200 percent of the federal poverty level, one of the highest thresholds in the country. Many working families qualify and never apply because they assume they earn too much. Florida also has no asset limit for most applicants, so savings and a car usually do not disqualify you.

You may qualify if you are working, retired, disabled, a student who meets an exemption, or out of work. Households where everyone receives SSI or Temporary Cash Assistance are generally eligible automatically.

The only way to know is to be screened. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources does that for free.

Rules changed in 2026. Federal changes that took effect in February 2026 altered eligibility for some immigrant categories, and Florida introduced restrictions on what SNAP can buy in 2026. Staff will explain what applies to your household at your appointment.

What to bring to your appointment

Bring what you have. If something is missing, come anyway.

  • Photo ID for the person applying
  • Social Security numbers for everyone in the household
  • Proof of income — pay stubs from the last 30 days, benefit award letters, or self-employment records
  • Proof of address — lease, mortgage statement, or utility bill
  • Housing costs — rent or mortgage amount, and your utility bills
  • Child care or medical costs if you have them, because these can increase your benefit
  • Any DCF letters you have received

Frequently asked questions about SNAP in Miami-Dade

Call A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources at (786) 396-3144 to book an appointment. As a registered MyACCESS Partner with the Florida Department of Children and Families, staff complete and submit your SNAP application with you at no cost. Appointments take place at 7900 NW 27th Ave, Suite 50B, Miami, FL 33147, inside Northside Shopping Center.

What is the fastest way to get food stamps in Florida?

Households with very little income or savings may qualify for expedited SNAP, which is processed in about 7 days instead of the standard 30. You must still complete the full application and interview. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources can check whether your household qualifies for expedited processing and file the application the same day as your appointment.

Do I qualify for food stamps in Florida?

Florida uses 200 percent of the federal poverty level for gross income screening, which is one of the highest thresholds in the country. Many working families qualify and never realize it. Florida also has no asset limit for most applicants. Staff at A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources can screen your household for free before you apply.

What documents do I need to apply for food stamps in Florida?

Bring a photo ID, Social Security numbers for household members, pay stubs from the last 30 days or other proof of income, proof of where you live such as a lease or utility bill, and your housing and utility costs. If you are missing something, come to your appointment anyway and staff will help you work out how to get it.

Can I get food stamps if I am not a citizen?

Some non-citizens qualify for SNAP and some do not, and the rules changed in February 2026. Lawfully present immigrants who have been in the United States for at least five years are generally eligible. Children who are U.S. citizens qualify regardless of their parents' status. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources can look at your household and tell you who in it is eligible.

How do I talk to a Florida EBT representative?

The Florida Department of Children and Families customer call center is 850-300-4323. Wait times can be long. If you need help understanding a letter or fixing a problem with your case, A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources can go through it with you at your appointment.

What is a MyACCESS Partner?

A MyACCESS Partner is an organization approved by the Florida Department of Children and Families to help people apply for benefits through the MyACCESS system. A New Life in Christ Ministries and Resources is a registered MyACCESS Partner, which means staff can complete and submit your application with you rather than handing you a website address.
